WaterPartners International

4900 children around the world die from water-related diseases every day. That's one child every 15 seconds.

Today, more than one billion people - approximately one in six - lack access to safe drinking water. No intervention has greater overall impact upon national development and public health than the provision of safe drinking water and the proper disposal of human waste.

Since our beginning in 1990, WaterPartners has helped thousands of people in more than 200 communities in Bangladesh, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Honduras, Guatemala, India, Kenya, and the Philippines develop safe water supplies and improved sanitation systems.

WaterPartners does not build water systems for people, but with people. We believe that local people know their own needs best. For a project to be truly successful, communities must be viewed and must view themselves as the owners of the project. That's why WaterPartners engages communities at every stage and at every level - from project planning, building and financing to ongoing project maintenance.

Be assured: lives are changing, one at a time. Because water permeates all aspects of human development, access to a sustainable water source in a community transforms its people's health and daily lives. Such truths cannot be over-exhausted: just ask the the mother who is able to spend more time with her children because she no longer has to walk hours a day to collect water; girls are able to attend school because they no longer have to help their mothers with this chore. Women can now spend more time on income-generating activities because of their new-found access to a local, sustainable water source. More money allows for food to nourish their families and growing children.

On behalf of WaterPartners and the communities we serve, we extend our deepest thanks. May you take pride in your role as we work together to bring dignity and hope to our fellow humans around the world with the simple gift of clean water.
