To prevent the destruction of a pristine water near Oxford by NPower who have planning permission to use the lake as a dump for Fuel Ash from Didcot Power Station. NPower prefer to dump it to landfill rather than recycling with a process like "Rocktron"..
To try and prevent the destruction of a 12 hectare site located between Radley and Abingdon. RWE NPower and Oxfordshire County Council between them have concocted a scheme which will destroy a beautiful lake and deprive the community of an essential part of the landscape. The area is rich in bio-diversity and should be protected.Instead 500,000 tonnes of waste fuel ash (PFA) will be dumped here to the detriment of the wildlife and the environment.
The lakes at Radley are considered to be one of the beauty spots of Oxfordshire; the jewel in the crown of the local area. Situated at the bottom of Thrupp Lane, between Radley and Abingdon, they are a haven of peace and tranquility for both people and wildlife.

Help Save Radley Lakes
The loss of green spaces around towns and cities is increasing. The ability to find a "bit of wildnerness" where you can look at the wildlife and study nature are rare. Even conservation sites are managed to the extent that you rarely see anything because you are not allowed to go for fear of damaging the ecosystem.
Radley Lakes have evolved over fifty years and are much loved by the local community as a place to go to get some peace, walk the dog, birdwatch, photograph things.
NPower need to know how important places like this are, and should not be turned to landfill. This is not just a local issue. The output from Coal-fired Power Stations is an issue all over the country, and is hardly being addressed, although one station, Fiddlers Ferry, has spent money investing in plant to recycle 100% of its ash. NPower had the chance to do the same but turned it down - they didn't want to make the investment - particularly when there is a nearby convenient site into which to dump the ash at very little cost.
