About Lee Davenport

My Environmental Objectives: Environmental conservation is important. However I think there are more important things right now. We need to work towards sustainable development globally, so noone is left in need and while everyone is comfortable it is not at earth's expense.

Things I would like to change: I am a great believe and supporter of Public Transport. While it does pollute - it is a lot greener than motor cars! Check out my campaign!

About me: Hey! My name is Lee and I'm a 2nd year student at the University of Hull. Studying BA Geography situated in the beautiful Cohen building, I am pleased to be studying at such a fantastic institution and it is further than I ever thought I’d get. As a human geographer I am extremely aware of the environmental issues that plague us, how we cause them and how we could mitigate them. There are several things important to me in life; and nothing is as important as the beautiful Rebecca Fisher, my girlfriend, my friends and my family. I have several hobbies, most of which revolve around academic study itself, reading or design / graphics. Throughout sixth form I studied through a design background; with Art and Design graphics my hobby and favourite subject, now reserved for my hobby, geography is my true passion in life. I have lived in Yorkshire all my life, admiring the wolds, beaches and the other beautiful landscapes of my county. The landscape in its present state is vital to me, and we need to preserve it. My personal troubles and struggles have inspired me to help others who find themselves down or lost. As such I volunteer in several projects which put me in a position to help, and I see my training and experiences as vital in helping me do this. I cannot thank enough the people and organisations who have given me the opportunities to help others. However academia and our hobbies can only take us so far. There is nothing I like more than to socialise with my friends – the people who matter.

Activities: Cycling, fieldwork, clubbing, gaming, working, socialising, campaigning (standing up for what is right), and POKER!

Interests: Geography, global climatic change, amnesty uk, fun, socialising, writing, web development, hanging with friends, christian fusion, reading, drunkeness, debauchery and the like (tee hee hee).

Favorite Music: I'll listen to anything from rock, to pop, from classical to rap and from dance to indie.

Favorite Films: The lord of the rings, Team America, Wimbeldon, Phantom of the Opera, Naked Gun, Tomb Raider, Star Wars I to IV, The Omen, Hot Fuzz, Oceans 11, Oceans 13, Bucket list, Silent Hill

Favorite TV shows: Family guy, Futurama, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Simpsons, Mock the Week, Sky news, Lost, Top gear, Balls of Steel, Star Trek, Megastructures, Megamovers, political debates, The Apprentice, Dr Who, Cathrine Tate show

Favorite Books: Othello, Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, Hamlet, Macbeth, Henry V, Birdsong, Regeneration, Imagined Communities, All my Sons, District and Circle, Wise Children, Strange Meeting, The world according to Clarkson

Favorite Quotes: I'm a human geographer - I don't do the physical stuff - I do humans, Super mega happy fun times, I'm glad I do not have to sit around while you wet yourself every time he strokes his instrument, You sound like a manic, Because nothing heals pain quite like money, Lashings of ginger beer for everyone, I have to go and do British things; like drink cups of tea and eat bangers and mash... you know... those sort of things... because I'm British.

Political Views: I'm a little lost right now to be honest. I am quite disillusioned with the lib dems are the moment. Over the last 3 years or so i've gone blue. Conservative all the way :)

Shoutbox

  • Hi Lee
Good to hear from you. Hope you had a fun Summer.

Thanks for pushing Greenvoice. When is your Fresher Fair? We are at a couple of other fresher fairs and are pushing people to sign our excess packaging campaign. We've incentivised this with opportunity for people to win a new green iPod nano. We have produced a big 2m by 1m banner promoting us and some smaller a3 posters. It might help for you to have some posters, petitions and info about ambassadors programme.

Let me know what works best for you - I like your ideas!

We could offer an incentive for your society - sounds good.

  • Hi Lee, Good to hear from you! Hey, yes your agent needs to sort you out with the landlord so that you can live there.

When you get online again we should talk about your campaign and what we can do at your Uni or in Hull.

Promises

  • Pledge to pressure where you study to adpot this! (I'm the creator so obviously I promise this! We managed to pressure the university to bring us paper recycling and drinking can recycling facilities to the halls. In addition our cleaners recycled out bottles and the hall introduced a recycling officer. )

Appeals

  • Pledge to pressure where you study to adpot this! -

Recycling on the go is important. Thousands of students study at the schools, colleges and universitys in our country. Hundreds of plastic bottles, hundreds of newspapers and goodness knows what other rubbish is produced by us all when we're on the go! As students we have the power to pressure where we study to adopt recycling where we study!
